ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
My photo series, Beyond the Here and Now, was showcased in Christopher Newport University’s Senior Seminar Exhibition in the spring of 2017.
I began this program in August 2019 and will finish with a teaching licensure in Art Education in the state of Virginia in December 2022.
Passed Praxis Core Math Test: February 2019 (necessary for entrance into ODU’s Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification Program)

WORK AND VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
December 2018-Present: Substitute Teacher and Substitute Paraprofessional for York County School Division, Yorktown, VA
My job responsibilities include the following: assisting students with classwork and homework, administering tests and quizzes, keeping students on task, ensuring academic integrity, handling behavioral challenges, ensuring playground safety, accompanying students to resource classes like art, library, music, P.E., and ensuring that all the students get onto their designated buses. Additionally, I work with the special-needs population as a substitute special-education paraprofessional or teacher. Additional responsibilities include helping the special-education students one-on-one with classwork and lesson comprehension, accompanying students to sensory rooms, managing behavior and seeking help if needed, and assisting students when they need to organize study materials.

When working with the special-needs population, additional responsibilities included teaching phonics, making sure students stayed on task, assisting them with classwork and lesson comprehension, and ensuring classroom and playground safety.
May 2018-August 2018: Childcare Worker at Hampton Christian Academy Summer Camp/Daycare program, Hampton, VA
My job responsibilities included the following: making sure that children played nicely with each other, ensuring that the children did not get separated from the rest of the class on field trips or wander off outside of the classroom at the elementary campus, settling conflicts between the children, attending to a child if he/she was sick or physically hurt, reminding the children to pick up all their toys in the classroom, and making sure that my classroom was clean at the end of the day when my shift was over.

Server for CNU Catering. As part of the CNU Catering team, I helped cater any event that Christopher Newport University hosted. Events included Setting Sail (freshmen orientation), weddings, rotary events, breakfasts, lunches, dinners, VIP events, dinners at President Trible’s house, galas, and Lifelong Learning events. Additionally, CNU Catering provided concession services at Ferguson Center events.
Spring 2011-2016: Part-time volunteering with the three and four-year-olds in Kidville preschool program at Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton, VA
Helped three and four-year-old children with crafts, made sure that they played nicely with the other children, provided them with a snack, assisted with transitioning the children to other rooms, and ensured their safety during playground activities.
Spring 2009-Spring 2010: My Sisters in Science and BLAST Science Program mentor through Calvary Christian Academy, Hampton, VA
Mentored and helped elementary school students with science projects for a science fair. The purpose of the My Sisters in Science and BLAST Science Program was to mentor students and help them acquire a greater interest in science. BLAST is an acronym for Building Lifelong Achievements in Science and Technology.
